Why launch a grants scheme?  Hackney’s population face a number of huge health challenges  Providing, Commissioning, Grant Funding  New minds for old problems  New approach for the council to work with the sector

The 3 funding streams  £300,000 in total  Healthy Activities  Healthy Ideas  Healthy Neighbourhoods  ‘Funding+’  Eligibility

Healthy Activities  £30,000 (minimum £5,000)  Provision of activity relating to one of the two selected key issues: a) Preventing people from starting smoking (targeted at the ages and communities most likely to do so) b) Preventing the onset of mental ill health in adults and children  Single point of contact council officer, skills support, councillor ‘champion’, communications support

Healthy Ideas  £8,000  Radically new approaches to tackling entrenched problems, relating to one of the two selected key issues: a) Substance Misuse (adults and children) b) Sexual Health (adults and children)  A proof of concept report and short pilot  Single point of contact council officer, challenge sessions, councillor ‘champion’, communications support

Healthy Neighbourhoods  £1,000  Small scale neighbourhood based projects, improving local health and narrowing the gap between local communities’ health and wellbeing prospects  Non-profits and ‘structured groups of local residents’  Communications support
