Ingredients of the Marine Service

Copernicus marine: built upon the concept of a core service Marine Core Service Implementation Group (IG report, April 2007) Copernicus Marine Service : building upon the concept of a « core service » processing and giving acess to the best generic information available, for supporting adding-value expert services.

ONE SINGLE SERVICE ASSET 2014 EASY ACCESS TO OPERATIONAL OCEANOGRAPHY PRODUCTS FOR ANYONE ONE-STOP-SHOP-WINDOW WORLD OCEAN / EUROPEAN SEAS MARINE ESSENTIAL VARIABLES marine.copernicus.eu

A STRONG UPTAKE ASSET USERS OF THE MARINE SERVICE, AND +130 EVERY MONTH 0 IN AFTER 3 YEARS (MYOCEAN) 4000 AFTER 5 YEARS (MYOCEAN2) 50% RESEARCH / 50% OPERATIONAL 113 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES

Effects of wind forcing and bottom roughness on the model skill as regards depth-integrated current speed predictions at “South Whiddy” ADCP station Test 1: Zo=0.0001/GFS Test 2: Zo=0.0005/GFS Test 3: Zo=0.005/GFS Test 4: Zo=0.02/GFS Test 5: Zo=0.005/Whiddy where X are observed values, Y are modelled values and OE is the error of the observations.

RECOMMENDATIONS Mapping community can collect data of value to ocean observations community eg. Near Seabed temperature How? Working group? Mapping community should also probably better express their needs with respect to Copernicus Marine Service How? Invite to user forum, Core User Group Links between Copernicus Marine Service and Emodnet (geology, bathymetry, habitat mapping) (Emodnet Physics already done through Eurogoos and MyO in situ system) should be developed/strengthened. How? Emodnet Secretariat
