TERM 2 AND 3 BRITISH VALUES TFTW W/C 2 ND NOVEMBER

WHAT ARE BRITISH VALUES? In 2014 the Government asked that all schools promote the idea of British values. What do you think the phrase “British values” means? British values = the beliefs that British people feel are important.

WHAT DO YOU THINK ARE BRITISH VALUES? In pairs discuss what values or beliefs are important in Britain. What have you come up with?

WHAT HAS THE GOVERNMENT SAID BRITISH VALUES ARE? an understanding that Britain is a democracy an appreciation that living under the rule of law protects individual citizens and is essential for their wellbeing an understanding that the freedom to choose and hold other faiths and beliefs is protected in law an acceptance that other people having different faiths or beliefs to oneself (or having none) an understanding of the importance of identifying and combatting discrimination. Did you have the same ones as the Government? Do you think you have learnt about these British Values in any of your lessons? Have a look at the display in the FLS!

FINALLY In your planners, on today’s date, write down 3 things you have discussed during this session.
