A Real Estate Professional’s Guide to Communicating with Social Media By Lindsey Listanski
Statistics 2/3 of the world’s population visits social media sites. Twitter’s fastest growing age demographic is year olds. In 2008 only 32% realtors had social media presence, in contrast in 2009, 84% of real estate agents used social media sites to reach out to their target audiences. 94% home buyers use the internet to identify properties that would interest them. 32% of homebuyers found the house they bought online. To gain a competitive edge, realtors need to use social media to broadcast their messages and to interact with their fans. Traditional buyers take close to two months to find the house that meets their requirements. On the other hand, internet buyers take only about half a month. In other words, the internet, and social media in particular, helps home buyers identify key issues that they need to consider when buying real estate.
