NOOR LANGUAGE SCHOOL English Department Primary 5 Presents Story town (lesson 13) STORMALONG Skill Cause & Effect
Skill Cause & Effect Cause is a reason that something happens. Effect is what happens as a result.
One cause can have more than one effect, for example: Cause: Tim broke his arm. Effect: - His mother tidies his room. - his friends help him carry his bag. - his teacher postponed his weekly quiz.
An effect can have more than one cause, for example: Effect: Sue didn’t do her H.W. Cause: - She had her birthday party. - She helped her mum preparing the party. - She cleaned the house after the party.
There are keywords for cause & effect, such as: Because, because of, when, so, if, since and therefore. Examples: If Tim arrives school late (cause), the teacher will be angry (effect). Harry didn’t do his H.W since he couldn’t understand the lesson. Check Story town HC P.328 &329
