Do any of these criteria fit you? You like being in school, but sometimes it overwhelms you. You want to attend college, but you’re unsure of how to get there. You want to be more efficient and organized throughout the year, but usually your backpack is a mess by the second month. You know the right answer in class, but you are reluctant to raise your hand. You like to be involved in school and your community but are not sure where to look for activities that interest you. You are intimidated to speak to your teachers about your success in class.

If you answered yes to any of the questions, AVID is the program for you because… If school overwhelms you…AVID can help you set goals! If you want to attend college…AVID can help prepare you! If you want to be more efficient…AVID can help you get organized! If you want to participate more in class…AVID can help you build self- confidence! If you want to be more involved…AVID can help you connect with others with similar interests! If you are intimidated to talk to teachers…AVID can help you be your own advocate! If you are bored in class…AVID can support you in AP and Honors classes!

What do AVID students say? Why would you want to be in the AVID program? “It helps me prepare for college.” “It helps me be more successful in high school.” “It helps me stay organized.” “ I can work with my peers to solve problems and study.” “We are a family.” “It’s a good opportunity to make new friends.” “I learn many new ways of studying and taking notes, which is helpful.” “…creates good habits.” “scholarships” “tutorials” “time- management” “helps me stay on track even when I don’t want to “gives you opportunities for your future” “support from the teacher”

BHS Students Do you have a favorite teacher? Teachers will be featured on 3TV and will receive special prizes. Do you know a teacher who goes above and beyond? See Ms. Taylor in the Administration Building for an application.
