THE BOOK OF CHAPTER 20-27

MATTHEW CHAPTER IS ABOUT..

1 ST. WHAT DOES THE TEXT TELL YOU ABOUT LIFE IN FIRST CENTURY ISRAEL?

LIFE IN ISRAEL Jesus creates many parables (MATTHEW 22- THE PARABLE OF THE WEDDING BANQUET) They follow the teachings of Moses (MATTHEW 22- MARRIAGE AT THE RESURRECTION) Pharisees and Scribes are religious leaders but they are hypocrite (MATTHEW 22- PAYING THE IMPERIAL TAX TO CAESAR) Pharisees and Scribes always try to trap Jesus. (MATTHEW 22- THE GREATEST COMMANDMENT) Jesus told his disciples about doomsday (MATTHEW 24-25) Jesus predicted his death ( MATTHEW 26- THE PLOT AGAINST JESUS) Judas betrayed Jesus (MATTHEW 26- JUDAS AGREES TO BETRAY JESUS) The Last Supper (MATTHEW 26) Peter denied Jesus (MATTHEW 26) Jesus was captured, trialed, tortured, and crucified. (MATTHEW 27)

2 ND. WHAT DOES THE TEXT REVEAL ABOUT THE NATURE OF GOD?

NATURE OF GOD - He can do the impossible. - Full of mercy. - He is smart. - Generous - He is willing to be sacrificed. - He is Wise

3 RD. HOW DOES THE TEXT PORTRAY JESUS AS THE RESCUER FROM SIN?

RESCUER OF SIN 1. He was the Son of God who came down from heaven to rescue the sinners from sin. He knew He would be killed but He still came down to earth to rescue those who are fruitful. 2.He is willing to forgive anyone who tries to act like Christ, believes in His words and respects Him. 3.He rescues those who are fruitful and lives by faith. (Fig Tree)

RESCUER OF SIN 4.He rescues anyone for sin. There are no criteria to whom he rescued. He invites everyone to live in the Kingdom of God but only some will be able to enter. Those who does not enter are the ones who were given invitations but refused it at first, meaning they did nothing to appreciate His invitation. 5.He gave time for people who wants to change for the better by not revealing the time He would come back to earth. We must be prepared at all times because He will come back at a time we never expect and He will only rescue those who are ready.

4 TH. HOW DOES THE TEXT REVEAL JESUS TO BE THE KING OF LIFE?

KING OF LIFE 1.He is a humble king. Instead of riding majestic transportation that royalty would ride, He chose to ride a donkey as He introduced Himself to the people in Jerusalem. 2.He appreciates those who strives to be like Him. 3.He does not appreciate those who mistreated His Church. (Market) 4.He knows what is right and what is wrong. (Ceaser’s coin)

KING OF LIFE 5.He knows when the end begins and when the beginning ends. Once the temple is destroyed, which is already destroyed by Romans a couple hundred years ago, that will be the beginning of the end. The end as in end of life on earth. The world will be chaotic with natural disasters and diseases happening before the end. 6.He is the judge. 7.He knows the future. He knows when the people were plotting to murder Him, Judas was going to betray Him. 8.He resurrected.

5 TH. WHICH PARTS OF ISRAEL DO THE EVENTS TOOK PLACE? SHOW THE MAP.

THE MAP 1.Israel 2.Jericho 3.Jerusalem 4.Bethpage 5.Bethany 6.Gethsemane 7.Golgotha

6 TH. WHAT GROUP OF PEOPLE INVOLVED IN THE EVENT

PEOPLE INVOLVED PRIESTS, PHARISEE, ISRAELITES THE BLIND MAN WHO RECEIVED SIGHT FROM JESUS CHRIST THE 10 VIRGINS (MATTHEW 25- PARABLE OF THE TEN VIRGINS) Jesus’s death/Arrested Rabbi (Matthew 26- Jesus Arrested) Sanhedrin (Matthew 26- During Jesus’s arrest) Chief priest- Caiaphas (Matthew 26- During Jesus’s arrest) Governor- Pilates (Matthew 27- Judas Hangs himself) Barbaras- (Matthew 27- Jesus before pilates) Soldiers- (Matthew 27- Solider mock Jesus) Simon- (Matthew 27- The crucifixion of Jesus) Joseph, Mary Magdalene, Mary (Matthew 27- The Burial of Jesus)

PEOPLE INVOLVED THE 12 DISCIPLE JUDAS (MATTHEW 26- JUDAS ISCARIOT'S BETRAYAL) THE 12 DISCIPLE OF JESUS CHRIST (MATTHEW 26- THE LAST SUPPER) PETER (MATTHEW 26- PETER’S DENIAL)

HOW DID PEOPLE RESPOND TO THE MINISTRY OF JESUS AND HIS DISCIPLES (POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE RESPONSES, IF POSSIBLE)

POSITIVE EFFECTS Some People believe that Jesus could do the impossible, he could do miraculous things. In Matthew chapter 22, some of the crowds were amazed at what Jesus said which was about the marriage of resurrection. The 12 disciples followed Jesus, Respect Jesus and believed in him

NEGATIVE EFFECTS In Matthew chapter 21, when the chief Priest and the Pharisees knew about Jesus parables, they looked for a way to arrest Jesus. In Matthew Chapter 22, many didn’t believe on Jesus parables. No one would come to the wedding banquet. Many were making fun of Jesus saying that he is the king of the Jews Many did not believe about what Jesus could do especially during the crucifixion day.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION! PRAISE JESUS!
