A learning community focuses on 1.Collaboration 2.Setting personal goals 3.Self reflection RESPOSIBLERESPOSIBLE For implementing individual conferences and goal setting 1.Explain the purpose for the individual conferences  involve students 2.Demonstrate the conference  model 3.Discuss elements of successful conference (strengths and weaknesses) 4.Collaborate in designing a conference report sheet: a)Name & date of conference b)Academic topics  academic goals set c)Behavior topics  behavioral goals set d)Responsibility topics  responsibility goals set e) Signatures/date of next conference

5. Set up schedule a) during center time b) at the end of each reading group c) before and after school d) lunchtime e) during independent work or study time 6. Prepare for the conference 7. Involve the students in the process 8. Keep the process going and growing Exercise: 1. With your partner, develop an individual conference, following the steps delineated above. 2. Simulate a child, grade levels, academic, behavioral and responsibility problems 3. Develop a conference and goal setting report. Be ready to present in class
