HENRI ROUSSEAU MAY 21, 1844 – SEPTEMBER 2, 1910

ROUSSEAU CLAIMED HE HAD "NO TEACHER OTHER THAN NATURE“ ESSENTIALLY HE WAS SELF-TAUGHT AND IS CONSIDERED TO BE A NAÏVE OR PRIMITIVE PAINTER. A PRIMITIVE ARTIST IS ONE WHO IS CONSIDERED UNTRAINED.

WE ARE GOING TO CREATE OUR OWN ROUSSEAU INSPIRED LANDSCAPE. YOU WILL: 1.CREATE A FANTASY JUNGLE LANDSCAPE DEMONSTRATING USE OF FOREGROUND, MIDDLE GROUND AND BACKGROUND. 2.YOU MUST CREATE 6 DIFFERENT TYPES OF PLANTS. USE TREES, SHRUBS, FLOWERS, VINES, PALMS, FERNS OR WHATEVER YOU CAN THINK OF!!! 3. YOU MUST INCLUDE AN ANIMAL. 4. FILL UP THE PICTURE SPACE! THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A JUNGLE AREA. IT SHOULD RESEMBLE THE SAME TYPE OF LANDSCAPES ROUSSEAU CREATED. 5. WE WILL BE USING WATERCOLOR PENCIL AS DEMONSTRATED IN CLASS. TAKE YOUR TIME! CRAFTSMANSHIP IS IMPORTANT TO YOUR GRADE!!!
