Welcome! Introducing our new Title 1 Program

What is Title I? Title I funding began in 1965 under President Lyndon B. Johnson’s Elementary and Secondary Education Act, currently known as No Child Left Behind. The intent of the law is to provide a high-quality education for EVERY child, especially focusing on students who are at risk of not meeting the state academic standards. Title I funds are directed to schools whose free and reduced lunch participation is more than 40% of the student population.

Title One Programs at NWR Every child benefits from Title One! EPIC Groups meet daily for 30 minutes. Small group instruction Reading texts at their level Linking texts to reading skills and strategy based instruction. Supporting North Carolina Standard Course of Study

North Windy Ridge Parent Policy This document was developed through the careful consideration of the Continuous Improvement Team which includes parents, teachers, and administrators from the North Windy Ridge community. We believe that it is essential to involve parents, guardians, and family members in an active role in the education of their child. At North Windy Ridge, our goal is to build the capacity of family members to work effectively with their children to support their social, emotional, and academic development. It is our goal to provide a variety of parent involvement activities that are accessible for all families and that meet the needs of the school community as defined by the parents, students, and school staff. The Parent Policy and Parent Involvement Plan will be introduced at the beginning of each school year at the Title One Annual Meeting and Open House. Parents can continue to foster a connection to the school through one or many of the following opportunities: Participating in the PTO Board or Advisory Council Going to parent-teacher conferences Utilizing title one take home resources to support the development of struggling learners. Attending parent workshops Volunteering for special events or in the classroom We look forward to developing a partnership that strengthens our school community and that leads every child to a successful and productive school experience.
