Chinese traditional values

Chinese traditional culture is the national culture of the evolution of the Chinese civilization, which is a reflection of the national character and style. It is the feature of the all kinds of ideas of national culture, ideology in the history. It is created by the the ancestors who live in the territory of the Chinese nation, and inherited by the development of the Chinese nation for generations, with distinctive ethnic features, historic, the connotation profound, traditional fine culture.

It is the crystallization of the civilization of the Chinese nation for thousands of years. Chinese traditional values is very rich and complex, the four thinking which is the most important, the most all- embracing(including many things).

1.Yin and Yang and the five elements 2.Harmony of Humanity and Nature 3.The Doctrine of the Mean 4.self – cultivation and self - denial

Yin and Yang & the Wuxing As the basic philosophy of yin and yang And the five elements. The Wu Xing, also known as the Five Phases, the Five Agents, the Five Movements, and the Five Steps/Stages,are chiefly an ancient mnemonic device, in many traditional Chinese fields.

The five elements are: Wood (Chinese: 木, pinyin: mù) Fire (Chinese: 火, pinyin: huǒ) Earth (Chinese: 土, pinyin: tǔ) Metal (Chinese: 金, pinyin: jīn) Water (Chinese: 水, pinyin: shuǐ) It is sometimes translated as Five Elements, but the Wu Xing are chiefly an ancient mnemonic device, hence the preferred translation of "movements", "phases" or "steps" over "elements". By the same token, Mu is thought of as “Wood" rather than “Tree".

The system of five phases was used for describing interactions and relationships between phenomena. It was employed as a device in many fields of early Chinese thought, including seemingly disparate fields such as geomancy or Feng shui, astrology.

Harmony of Humanity and nature  Definition "Harmony" is at the core of traditional Chinese culture and the Chinese people's view of the world and the universe..Chinese people are often heard to say: "Heaven and man are an integral one." The earth, heaven, and humankind would form a single harmonious unit.As a result, they are in constant pursuit of harmony between humanity and nature.

 Typical sects Confucianism holds that all creatures stem from nature. It stresses that benevolence be shown to people and all other creatures, extending a spirit of benevolence to everything in the universe. Taoism regards the law of nature as the supreme principle governing the universe and human society. It believes that harmony between nature and humanity is more important than good relations between people. Buddhism maintains that all living creatures are born equal and have the right to live.

The Doctrine of the Mean is belong to Confucianism. Its origin dates back to the period of Chunqiu. It is an educational theoretical writings of the user-friendly cultivation. The Doctrine of the Mean It is an impartial attitude. We should respect the human’s nature and learn the knowledge from the environment. In other words, What Heaven confers is called "nature.”Accordance with this nature is called the Way. Cultivating the Way is called "education."

Self-cultivate means that human should learn the enlightenment and etiquette to improve our self- accomplishment. Self-control is self-discipline, to overcome the weaknesses of ourselves. In the whole, self-cultivate and self- control is a way to achieve self- improvement and make contribution to our society. Self-cultivate and self-control

Significance 1.Owing to the emphasis on individual moral cultivation and the spirit of community in the history of national culture many domestic heroes who pursued the national interests and benefit at the expense of themselves appeared. 2.As the world’s only ancient culture without any interruption, the Chinese culture remains its long-term national unity and stability, partly resulting from the emphasis on the moral strength and the concept of community values. 3.The traditional Chinese values promotes the social interactions by humanity of civilization.
