What Are The Arpeggio Chords? C Cega C Cega C Cega C Cega F Facd F Facd C Cega C Cega G Gbde F Facd C Cega C Cega The Arpeggio Chords are also known as the broken chords. This was the first thing we learnt about the 12 bar blues. The three primary chords are C, F and G. The notes that make up these chords are cega, facd and gbde.

What Is The Melody Line? GGGRest and counts 1-2 C3D These 3 notes are played in quick succession. D#DC3Rest and counts 1-8 The melody line is played three times in the 12 bar blues. Two new notes we learnt about were D# and D. In this lesson it was very fun to learn about the melody line because this was the main part of the 12 bar blues which tied everything together. This is the part which ties the arpeggio chords and the 12 bar blues scale together. Furthermore, the rest and counts are not there for no reason they actually mean something in the 12 bar blues.

What Is The 12 Bar Blue Scale? C3D#FF#GA#C4 The 12 bar blue scale consists of 7 chords including two C’s. This is used for the skill improvisation. Improvisation is when you make up anything on the spot. In class we had to make an tune out of these 7 chords to go in the melody line where there is a rest and count for 8 beats. This was very challenging because we had to use most of the chords to get a high grade, but only using eight beats to make the whole tune. In conclusion, finding out and making a tune using the 12 bar blue scale was really fun and enjoyable.

The slaves freedom: The slaves freedom was not that good to begin with. This was because slaves were still in poverty and people still didn’t treat each other equally. Furthermore, ex-slaves were not getting any jobs because of their unknown bad reputation which people look upon. Slaves were treated horribly which lead to living in vile conditions. Many slave were homeless and were not nourished properly.

How Were The Blues Connected To Slavery? The blues music connected to slavery because slave use to express their sorrow and sadness through the blue’s music. Furthermore, their beat was the one that thing that no one could take away from them. So however much they were beaten or had to work they could still sing, dance and keep up with the rhythm. This made their jobs a bit better.
