Beginners(ATAR) Continuers (ATAR)

If you have enjoyed Japanese so far, then you will probably continue to do so. Culture is still an element, but is only tested as part of your other exams.

Continuers Japanese: Limited to those students who have continued to study Japanese from Year 7 onwards.

Very fast moving course. There is a big emphasis on revision at home and motivating yourself to use what you are learning, to do well. The course is set up in moodle, so students will be expected to have access to a computer.

The HSC is made up of 2 exams. The speaking exam is held around the same time that major works are due in Art and Textiles, and the practical exams are on for Dance and Drama.

Students who study a language in stage six are generally given 2 bonus marks on their ATAR.

Beginners Japanese: Limited to those students who have not studied any Japanese since the completion of compulsory Japanese in Year 8.

A fast moving course that expects students to quickly master hiragana, katakana and some kanji. The level reached is only slightly lower than the level expected of the Continuers Japanese students.

The HSC is made up of 2 exams. The speaking exam is held around the same time that major works are due in Art and Textiles, and the practical exams are on for Dance and Drama.

Students who study a language in stage six are generally given 2 bonus marks on their ATAR.

Japanese can be lots of fun and very useful on your resume. Students who study Japanese in 2015 will be welcome to join our Japan study tour. The gang of 2012

More information is available through Mrs. Wiggins or Beth in the Japanese staffroom.
