SENTENCE TYPES BY CLAUSES

Simple Sentence A simple sentence has one independent clause. Mr. Roshto ate all the donuts at Krispy Kreme.

Compound Sentence A compound sentence contains two independent clauses. Mr. Roshto ate all the donuts at Krispy Kreme, and he exploded.

Complex Sentence A complex sentence contains one independent clause and one dependent clause. Because he was hungry, Mr. Roshto ate all the donuts at Krispy Kreme.

Compound-Complex Sentence A compound-complex sentence contains two independent clauses and one dependent clause. Because he was hungry, Mr. Roshto ate all the donuts at Krispy Kreme, and he exploded.
