Health and Human Services Facet Area Report Highlights

Goals and Accomplishments 1. Deliver and Sustain Transformational Programs: Decrease existing health disparities among minority populations we serve in the southern United States through expanded health education programs by – Expanded the existing childhood obesity curriculum to encompass mentoring and STEM – Presented the curriculum here at the 42 nd Southern Area Conference in Miami, FL – Public Forum on Obesity and Health Disparities Lecture at the Area Conference 2.Enhanced Member Services and Engagement: Determine chapter engagement in Health and Human Services Signature Programs and National Initiatives. – Disseminated surveys to identify chapter participation in Signature Programs/National Initiatives and interest in new health programming – 100% of chapters responding engaged in childhood obesity programming, – Expanded existing childhood obesity curriculum

Goals and Accomplishments 3. Organizational Assessment and Alignment: Encourage program models that align and reduce the number of programs implemented at the chapter level. – Promoted Childhood Obesity Initiative through consolidated programming with STEM integration 4.Leadership Development: Prepare chapters for replication of program models through the use of guidelines and/or curriculums. – Used existing childhood obesity curriculum to outline a new program incorporating STEM

Goals and Accomplishments 5.Promote Links Brand: Establish and maintain the Links brand through health related communication that can support both internal and external health outreach activities. – Contributed to The Advantage E-zine via the Links in Sync Column or other health related articles – Organized the first Health Pavilion at the Southern Area Conference, that includes vendors, ZUMBA, and Ask the Doctor
