Digital Textbooks Digital Textbooks are textbooks that you can access on the internet. These textbooks are becoming more popular, in our current educational society.

Background Digital textbooks have become more popular in today's society that they were before. We can gain access to the computer and the internet in several different places, even using wireless internet.

State of Michigan Library

We can gain access to digital textbooks through various places which makes it easy to take advantage of the text. Digital textbooks save resources by posting the material online opposed to printed text.

Impact on Students The use of digital textbooks has allowed the students to access the material online opposed to carrying around big textbooks all day.

Impact The digital textbooks save money and resources. Although, they may limit the access in the classroom because all the students can not bring in laptops.

Not Ready? According to Josh Catone our students may not be ready to make the change to digital textbooks just yet. 1) cost savings must be greater 2) Standard format is needed 3) questions of ownership

What’s being done? To make digital textbooks more useful we are allowing students to buy them online, some professors are using online textbooks only for their classes.

Top 10 The top 10 places to buy online textbooks according to degreedirectory.org/articles/10_places_to_buy_digital_textbooks_online.html 1) Zinio 2) iChapters 3) CourseSmart 4) ecampus.com 5) McGraw-Hill eBookstore 6) Taylor and Francis eBookstore 7) Books on Board 8) Vital Source Bookshelf 9) Cafescribe 10) Universal Digital textbooks

Conclusion! In conclusion we need to start adapting our students to use electronic textbooks opposed to print textbooks. We need to adapt our society to make this change.
