THE UNITED STATES: LOCATION AND LANDS 1.The four countries that make up North America are the United States, Greenland, Canada, and Mexico. 2.The two small islands that make up North America are Cuba and the Bahamas.

THE UNITED STATES: LOCATION AND LANDS Earth has two general types of lands – lowlands and highlands. Lowlands are areas of flatland at or near sea level. Highlands are areas where the land is elevated much above sea level.

THE UNITED STATES: LOCATION AND LANDS A plateau is a large area of flat highland. The Plains is a large area of flatland with few trees, if any.

THE UNITED STATES: LOCATION AND LANDS A wetland is a large area of moist land, often covered with a shallow layer of water. The Florida Everglades is the largest example of wetlands in the United States.
