Part 1 Working with Devices in the CQ Lab

Agenda 2 How to select a device and reserve it. Basic device operations inside the Lab Other features to get you up and running quickly! You will learn how to operate a device in the CQLab just as if it were in your own hand.

What is the Interactive view? 3 Manual operation of device in Perfecto interface Eclipse users can access from within Eclipse UFT users can login to CQLab to access Interactive mode allows working with the device manually –Browsing –Entering text –Installing apps It is useful for exploratory testing, manual testing.

Add a Reservation

Deleting a Reservation 7 In the reservations tab: 1.Highlight the reservation. 2.Click delete from the icon bar. 3.Confirm. Note: The pop-up reminder regarding tokens does not apply to users with dedicated devices.

Key Press / Touch 8 To press any button on the device: Just click To tap or touch the screen: Just click To perform a long key press or long touch: Combine a click + CTRL hold will appear at the top left of the device

Swipe 9 Marked with a GREEN line Hold down the SHIFT key and drag the mouse in the desired location (which receives the start and end coordinates and the time interval – the faster the move, the further the Scroll). Connects Point A to Point B in a straight line with no other coordinates in between.

Scroll and Drag 10 Scroll Click and move your mouse in the desired direction. Drag Click on an icon, move your mouse slightly until the item is responsive and then drag. About Scroll/Drag Both are marked with a RED line. Allows movement of an object in a non-linear way This operation provides the system with a series of coordinates within a vector; from A to B and everything in between.

Text Entry The text entry feature allows a user to input text, in any language, into the device. To input text: 1. Select a location to enter text (or simply press the ENTER key on your keyboard). 2. Type text in the textbox. 3. Click to enter text.

Audio 12 Turn on to hear audio streamed from the device. Since audio takes bandwidth and may slow down the device, it is turned off by default. Toggle on when needed. Select a device with Audio......then click Audio icon

Restarting and Recovering Devices 14 Restart Device Performs a software restart of the device. - Use when needed in test case or on unresponsive device - While the device is rebooting, you can not perform operations. If you attempt an operation, an error may appear Recover Device Disconnects & reconnects device to the CQLab. - Use only if restarting device did not work. - In case of persistent failure, please open support ticket.

Summary 16 In this lesson, Working with Devices, you learned: How to SELECT devices to work with. We began our ‘hands-on’ experience by having you log into your Lab and begin to ‘touch’ devices using simple functions such as KEY PRESS, TOUCH, SCROLL, DRAG, and SWIPE! You learned where to find DEVICE INFORMATION, and AUDIO. We covered basic TEXT ENTRY. How to RESTART and RECOVER a device. We reviewed how to take a SCREENSHOT and where to store it (HINT: in the REPOSITORY) Basically, you learned how to operate a device just as if the device were in your hands!
