The places you will go! Going gospel By: Briana smith

Dedication To my mother for giving life to me and my VTFT peers.

Oh the places you will go! My motif is a bout gospel music! Since I have been raised in church and brought up around this type of music it is fitting to do. The reason why my title has nothing to do with my motif is because, gospel music and my life has come a long way! The evolution and transformation is still taking place and that’s where I came up with, “ The places you will go,” because there is much more to see, learn, accomplish, and this is just the beginning.

History in the making In the 1700’s African American slaves in rural areas sung outside of church, while working. These were called “corn ditties,” or a precursor of a song. In 1850, the protestant movement was taking place. At church, hymns and psalms were song during services. Dr watt's, or lyrics of negro spirituals linked to slaves who were working, talks about life and is inspired by the message of Jesus and the good news of the bible.

Physical Development- Birth to 5 At Birth, I was 1 pound and 13 ounces, and did not have a lot of hair. All I did was eat and sleep as a baby. My mother says I had a lot of medical problems. As a toddler I was boring, well that’s what my mom says, because there are not too many funny stories about me.Also, I was not a bad child. When I was a toddler I loved to go outside, run, and listen and dance to music.

Cognitive Development- Birth to 5 I learned through my senses. I put objects in my mouth like toy and everything else that was not suppose to be ate. I loved to play house with my baby dolls and Bratz dolls. I was always was the mother and the hair stylist. My first words were “mama” and “dada” I learned what certain things are by seeing then for example my colors, letters, and shapes. I talked to my stuffed animals, that I still have today.

Moral Development*Birth-5* As a baby I was taught what to do and what not to do. I WAS LEARNING! By the age of 3 if I did not do what I was told I would get into trouble. Preconvectional ( Follow the parents)

Social Development I depended on my family members for everything, from changing my dippers to putting on my clothes. I tryo have some type of independence when I am potty trained and when I learn how to walk by myself. I talked a lot,and to anyone who was willing to listen. I asked a lot of questions, sometimes too many. I was really encouraged by my parents.

Physical Development: 6-12 Average height Shoulder length hair In middle school I had braids Not girlie loved basketball, didn’t mind getting dirty Always was missing at least one tooth in Elementary school In Elementary school I was a size girls.

Cognitive Development{6-12} Did well in school and was able to talk to other in a higher level because I took advanced courses in school. My conversations was about critical thinking in middle school. Elementary school was opposite I was able to communicate at a standard level like not being able to have deep conversations. I just talked about playing, friends, and the things I liked and disliked.

The Movement “we’ll understand it By and By” “If you see my savior” The father of gospel is Thomas A. Dorsey. He was a musician and accompanied famous blues singer. Thomas wrote a gospel song using blues and jazz funky rhythms and beats. In 1980 to 1990, gospel music had tripled from 180 million dollars to 500 million dollars. The invention of the radio helped gospel music defuse around the United states. The rock and roll Jesus movement took place in the 1970’s.

Moral Development*6-12* Convectional stage: I was the good child though sometime I did get into trouble. In school I followed all of the rules! Pre-conventional- My other did not play I always listened to everything she said and If I didn’t I would get a spanking or punishment. In middle school I was forced to grow up fast because of my mothers illness so I started making my own decisions based on rules and my parents.

Social Development In elementary school I had trouble with reading and comprehension. Also, with learning the basic shills of writing because I was left handed. When I was in middle school I still had trouble with reading but my writing skills improved and I started to feel comfortable around people and with myself.

PresentPresentPresentPresent Christian Hip Hop and contemporary urban gospel rose in the late 1990’s and the 21th century. Other types of gospel: Southern, bluegrass, blues, country, and pop.

Physical Development Adolescence Short 5’1 Short hair cut Size pounds I like to jump rope Run ( sometimes) I am very girly. I am not obsessed with shopping. Love helping people

Cognitive development Adolescence I can think at a higher level. I am able to formula solutions to problems, look at different perspective, think about cause and effect. Now I am able to think outside the box think creatively, use context clues, and understand indirect statements. I actually like math and English!

Moral Development* Adolescence* I am still the good child and follow all rule of school and of the law, but if something is morally wrong, even if the law says that it is right, I will go against it.

Social Development Today I am still trying to figure out who I am. I know that I want a better education, I am nice, I am dedicated, and I am focused. My goals or to excel in music, school, and life. Today I am still trying to figure out who I am. I know that I want a better education, I am nice, I am dedicated, and I am focused. My goals or to excel in music, school, and life.

My journey of life has yet not been completed; just like gospel music I am still evolving into something great!
