SESSION #36: Unit 4 Review + DBQ  You will be able to review key concept from the Early American Republic and prepare for a DBQ rewrite.  Correct your most recent exit ticket, shade in the bar graph, and staple in the exit ticket.  Flip your data reflection page to the back. Fill in the information for the topics you will focus on as you prepare for your Unit 4 test (which you will take next class!) OBJECTIVEDO-FIRST

Unit 4 Review  Federalists (example)—Session 30  Democratic-Republicans—Session 30  Whiskey Rebellion—Session 31  McCulloch vs. Maryland—Session 31  Isolationism—Session 32  War of 1812 Causes—Session 33 (do-first)  War of 1812 Effects Session 33 (do-first)  Monroe Doctrine—Session 33  Jacksonian Democracy—Session 34  Tariff—Session 34  Nullification Crisis—Session 34  Indian Removal Act—Session 35  Worcester vs. Georgia—Session 36  Trail of Tears—Session 36  (14 flashcards total)  *additional helpful terms to know: Alien & Sedition Act, Embargo, John C. DBQ Review  Next class, you will have the opportunity to rewrite your DBQ essay from unit 3.  If you scored below a 70, I am requiring that you rewrite your essay. If you scored a 70 or higher, you may choose to rewrite your essay or keep your original grade.  As we look over your graded essay, we will also look at a student example. The student example essay will be your notes page for today.

Create a Key  As we read the student example essay, I want you to choose 6 colors to mark up certain parts of the essay (you may use highlighter, color pencil, or marker).  Color in the key in the top corner box of the paper: KEY  Thesis  Topic Sentences  Use/explanation of Documents  Outside info/example  Point of View  Conclusion

Body Paragraph #3

Conclusion

Take a look at your own essay…  Using the same method we used with the student example, color/highlight the following parts of your essay:  Thesis  Topic sentences  Use of Documents  Outside info/example  POV  Conclusion  As you highlight, check to see if you are missing any parts of your essay! Look to see how you were scored on the rubric. Ask questions if you are confused about your score or your essay.

Preparing for the Rewrite  You may use the documents packet and outline provided. You may NOT use the student example we reviewed today in class. This also means you may not bring a rough draft.  Once you finish your unit 4 test next class, you will have the remaining time to work on the DBQ essay rewrite. If you need more time, we will arrange advisory/lunch times to finish your rewrite.

Organize!  Staple in the student example essay as your notes page for today!  Staple in your graded essay into session 29

Kahoot Review Games!  With the remaining class time, we can play review games to see how prepared you are for the unit test.  Take 10 minutes to review your flashcards and quiz each other.  Students who need a device, either work with a partner who has one or go across the hall to Ms. Welser’s room and ask politely to borrow a chromebook! Be sure to return it at the end of class.
