One day, a boy named Chance fell asleep in class. He started to dream about a scary monster…. pg. 3
The Ruler Monster roared and scared all of the Pencil People. He was big and scary. The Pencil People were scared of him. pg. 4
The Pencil People ran away from the Ruler Monster. They hoped one day someone would save them. pg. 5
Then, a hero came to save them. He was good and nice. pg. 6
The hero roared at the monster and stomped his feet. pg. 7
The Ruler Monster roared back, and stomped his feet. pg. 8
Then, the hero scared the Ruler Monster away, saving all the Pencil People. pg. 9
Then, Chance woke up and said, “That was a weird dream.” pg. 10
Author’s Biography Thomas King started writing when he was only in Grade 1. Of course, he didn’t write professionally, but he enjoyed writing stories anyway. Ever since then, he had a strong passion for writing. Thomas King is only 12 and lives in Shelburne, Nova Scotia, with his brothers, Daniel and Samuel, and his two sisters, Judilee and Marina. He loves to read and play with his dog, Totoro. pg. 11
