Prepares patients for and assists doctors with examinations and treatments. Monitors, records and reports symptoms and changes in patients' conditions. Modifies patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions. Discusses cases with physicians. Orders laboratory and diagnostic tests and evaluates results. Directs and supervises less skilled nursing personnel. Monitors all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity.
