How make a scatter graph using Microsoft Excel
Once Excel is Opened: Input the values from the table into Excel. –Don’t forget the labels. It should look like:
Selecting the Data To select the data you want to display: –Left click on the cell that says ‘Age’ in this example, cell A3. –Now hold down the left mouse button and drag it over to cell K4. –It should now look like:
Making the Graph Once the data is selected: –Click on –The following screen should now appear: –Click on XY(scatter)
Making the Graph Click on the first option for the chart type. (the one without any lines) Now click next and next again. This screen should now appear.
Making the Graph Chart Title: Scatter graph showing average time to run 100m. Value X axis: Time (secs) Value Y axis: Age (years) Now click on finish This should now appear:
Making the Graph Now click on the graph then ‘chart’. When the menu drops down click on ‘Add Trendline’, then ‘Linear’. Your graph should now look like this:
Setting the scales Double click on the y axis. Click on scale. –Minimum = 10 –Leave the rest. Double click on the x axis. Click on scale. –Minimum = 20 –Leave the rest.
