Why did I choose Ghana? When I was looking to choose a country that produced chocolate, a lady who my mum works with, suggested Ghana. The reason she suggested Ghana was because she was born there and came over to England when she was my age!

Where is Ghana?

Interesting Facts... Twenty five MILLION people live in Ghana! The people who live in Ghana speak English! In Ghana, there are 1.6 MILLION people who grow cocoa (that is in chocolate)! A couple of years ago, Ghana made almost half of the world’s cocoa! Kofi Annan is a famous politician from Ghana and he worked for the United Nations.

Does anyone know anything interesting about Kofi Annan? I do! I know what day he was born on just by his name... He was born on a Friday! If I was born in Ghana, my name would be called, Quao because I was born on a Thursday!

If you were born on... Monday, your name would be... Cudjoe Tuesday, your name would be... Cubbenah Wednesday, your name would be... Quaco Thursday, your name would be... Quao Friday, your name would be... Kofi or Cuffee Saturday, your name would be... Quamin Sunday, your name would be... Quashee

Fairtrade Fairtrade means that farmers are paid a fair price for their crop of cocoa beans. This is important in Ghana because many farmers are very poor.

In England, a very big company recently signed up to fairtrade in 2009

CHOCOLATE! Now that we know about fairtrade, we can go out and buy more chocolate knowing that we are helping poorer people while we are enjoying lovely chocolate!

THE END! Thanks for listening!
