The Gymnastics Manual

Ten Reasons to Be a Gymnast 1.Who doesn’t want to pay $100 per meet? 2.Using a bottle of hairspray per meet is great for your hair! 3.Don’t forget a bottle of butt glue! 4.Leotards are extremely comfortable. 5.Having people critique you for every little thing is the best part! 6.You get to be a snotty brat when you compete. 7.Being graded on your performance-like school. 8.You get to workout for at least 20 hours a week. 9.The coaches are like the best friends you’ve never had. 10.You get to compete for a total of five minutes at each meet.

What You Need to Be a Gymnast 1.Hairspray/butt glue 2.Many pairs of $50 grips that only last about 5 months 3.Braces for knees, ankles, feet, and wrists. 4.TAPE is essential! 5.First aid kit including Advil on speed dial 7.To be no more than 100 pounds, and have rock hard abs 8.Must be under 5 feet 9.To eat one crumb a day 10.Tissues for when you crash and burn

If You Love… Love getting rips, calluses, and blisters on your hands Swinging around like a monkey Then BARS is for you!

If You Love… Flipping on four inches of wood, 1200 centimeters above the ground Fear or being scared to death Then BEAM is for you!

If You Love… Prancing around for one minute and thirty seconds to music Pounding your ankles and wrists into the ground Smiling obnoxiously Then FLOOR is for you!

If You Love… Sprinting down a seventy foot runway to clear a motionless object Flying through the air, hoping you will land on your feet Then VAULT is for you.

Why Are You Not Getting a Perfect 10.0? 1.Did you step out of bounds on during your floor routine? 2.Was your left toe flexed during your giant on bars? 3.Did you hit the springboard too far back? 4.Were your hands on the vault table for over a second? 5.Did you take make a tiny shuffle with your feet when you landed your dismount off bars? 6.Did your floor music have words in it? 7.Was your flight connected on beam? 8.Was your leg bent when you did a double pike on floor? 9.Did you split the beam? 10.Were you below the vault table when you flipped your vault?
