Favoritisms and Protection CRANIUM MENINGES BLOOD FLOW BBB VENTRICULAR SYSTEM

Skull and dura

Dura and blood supply

The cerebroventricular system ventricals and CSF

From Choroid Plexi of Lateral ventricals to 3 rd ventrivcal..4 th ventrical to…?

The central canal of the spinal cord

Subarachnoid space of meninges surrounding spinal column..

Reabsorbed by the “Aracnoid Villi” mostly along the “Superior Saggittal sinus”

“hydrocephaly”

The Blood-Brain Barrier: Astrocytes create tight junctions (barriers) the BBB

The blood brain barrier A physical barrier A system of cellular transport Restricts potentially harmful chemicals from the blood, but allows the entrance of essential nutrients. Lipid soluble molecules, such as ethanol and caffeine are able to penetrate through the barrier relatively easily. In contrast, water soluble molecules are unable cross the barrier without specialized carrier- mediated transport mechanisms. The area postrema and the posterior pituitary area are two regions lacking this barrier.

The BBB No Dopamine So L-Dopa Exception- area postrema
