Mrs. Stowe’s Behavior System Tina Stowe Second Grade Teacher Wooden Elementary

Our behavior system looks something like this…. Great Day OutstandingGood Day Ready To Learn Think About It Teacher’s Choice Signature Each day all students begin with their pin on “Ready to Learn.”

Throughout the day, students can move up or down the ladder. If they make a really good choice, they move thier pin up to the next step (to the left). If they make a bad choice, they move thier pin down a level (to the right). Great Day OutstandingGood Day Ready To Learn Think About It Teacher’s Choice Signature

So, they are moving their pins all day based on the choices they make. Great Day OutstandingGood Day Ready To Learn Think About It Teacher’s Choice Signature

Students who end the day on GREAT day are given the opportunity to color a coloring sheet until the timer goes off each afternoon. They love this as there is not much coloring for fun nowadays! When the coloring sheet is finished, they get to go to the treasure box. Great Day OutstandingGood Day Ready To Learn Think About It Teacher’s Choice Signature

Think about it is a warning. This is a reminder to make it a great day! Great Day OutstandingGood Day Ready To Learn Think About It Teacher’s Choice Signature

Teacher's Choice is not counted as a signature but does have some consequences. This could be silent lunch, minutes from recess, or time in class to write about the choices they are making and how they can improve thier behavior. Great Day OutstandingGood Day Ready To Learn Think About It Teacher’s Choice Signature

Signature does count as a signature and against conduct grades and Renaissance. It does include a hand written note and/or to parents and loss of some recess. Students do not have to stay on "signature" all day. They can improve their day by making better choices and moving up the ladder again. Unfortunately, the signature remains. But, they can be rewarded for making better choices throughout the day. Great Day OutstandingGood Day Ready To Learn Think About It Teacher’s Choice Signature

Great Day OutstandingGood Day Ready To Learn Think About It Teacher’s Choice Signature The good thing about this system is that it provides the students a chance to improve throughout the day. They learn that their day is not ruined if they make a bad choice. They can move on from their mistakes and make it a better day!

In second grade, if there is not a signature in your child’s planner, then they had a good day and there were no behavior concerns that day! If there is a note concerning bad choices in your child’s planner, then it does count as a signature and will have consequences as stated previously.
