Susana Izquierdo Bermudez Overview A total of 32 companies contacted 6 answers: Five companies qualified JANKE (Germany) (cost =1) 3T-RPD LDT (United Kingdom) (cost =2.5) INITIAL (France) (cost =2.7) DTI (Danish Institute of Technology) (Denmark) ) (cost =2.8) LAYERWISE (Belgium) (cost =4.8) One company not qualified (under discussion) 2
Susana Izquierdo Bermudez Some relevant things learnt… Tolerances imposed for the qualification parts were too tight There is a very wide dispersion in terms of cost! No-one like the idea of heating up stainless steel 316L to 650°C and guarantee dimensional accuracy/material properties. One company suggested to use SS174 (1.4542), stress-relief at 600°C A campaign to qualify additive manufacturing materials is starting at CERN 3

Susana Izquierdo Bermudez Problem? JANKE
Susana Izquierdo Bermudez 3T-RPD LDT 7 Big deviation in the upper cylindrical surface for part 1 (+0.16 mm) they say they can improve this with some experience
Susana Izquierdo Bermudez DTI 8 Parts almost within the “new” tolerances They don’t use 3D scanning because precision is worse, but they have the capability of doing it
Susana Izquierdo Bermudez INITIAL 9 Parts almost within the “new” tolerances Part marked with a red circle is out of tolerances and will be a problem during assembly, but they assure that with experience on these parts they can do better.
Susana Izquierdo Bermudez LayerWise 10 They are the best!!
