HISTORY  PRE-RENAISSANCE – During the Greek, Roman and Gothic eras, the scenery was usually just the back wall of the stage. Special scenery was pulled out occasionally for God scenes and in the passion plays of the Medieval era.  RENAISSANCE – Thanks to the Italian’s, the style of painting today was developed during this time with the discovery of the rules of perspective
