Health is any combination of learning experiences designed to help individuals and communities to improve their health education by increasing their knowledge or influencing their attitudes In normal medical care practice people think of treating other than preventing, health education is the effective mean which reduces rate of infected people and those infected prevent them from spreading the diseases to uninfected. Factors hindering health education are like environmental factors, work or activities of people in which one is engaged, culture, etc. Therefore we should work more on prevention as it is cheaper than curing.

 What is health education and health promotion?  What are aspects of health education?  Why is health education important?  Who are health educators?  Where are health educators employed and what do they do?  The role of the health educator  Content of health education

Health  Is a complete state of physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease. (WHO) Education The act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment, and generally of preparing oneself intellectually for mature life. A process of teaching, training and learning, especially in school or college to improve knowledge and skills.

 Information-means knowledge of specific events or situations that has been gathered or received by communication; intelligence or news. -knowledge that you get about someone or something : facts or details about a subject  Modification- Is the science of life or living matter in all its forms and phenomena, especially with reference to origin, growth, reproduction, structure, and behavior. -is a change or alteration, usually to make something work better.

WHAT IS HEALTH EDUCATION?  Is any combination of learning experiences designed to help individuals and communities improve their health, by increasing their knowledge or influencing their attitudes and behaviors. (WHO)  Is a social science that draws from the biological, environmental, psychological, physical and medical sciences to promote health and prevent diseases, disabilities and premature deaths through education- driven voluntary behavior change activities.

 The purpose of health education is to positively influence the health behavior of individuals and communities as well as the living and working conditions that influence their health.

Is the process of enabling people to increase control over and improve their health (WHO). Is the science and art of helping people to change their life style to move towards the state of optimal health(American Journal Health Promotion). It move beyond a focus of an individual behaviour towards a wide range of social and environmental interaction. Primary means of health promotion occur through developing public policy that address the prerequisites of health such as income, housing, food security, employment and quality of working condition.

Health education has two main aspects:  Information  Awareness and modification  INFORMATION: Provides essential facts which helps to improve health behaviour and health status of an individual, families, communities, states and nations. Information sometimes cannot lead to change in behaviour of an individual. For instance a patient might know alcohol consumption may led to brain damage but they cannot stop enough though they try.

 AWARENESS AND MODIFICATION: It also helps an individual after providing health education to be aware of consequence of disease. Hence individual may replace bad behaviour with good ones. Also individual may be told to modify by providing adequate instructions, though few archive. Incase of smoking weed, few individual stops even after providing them with health knowledge

 Improves the health status of individuals, families, communities, states, and the nation.  Enhances the quality of life for all people.  Reduces premature deaths.  By focusing on prevention it reduces the costs (both financial and human) that individuals, employers, families, insurance companies, medical facilities, communities, the state and the nation would spend on medical treatment  It is important as it allows people to know how to take care of themselves

 It establishes people’s awareness, skills and encourages them to adopt positive attitude towards their well being.  It motivates youth to improve and maintain their health, prevent diseases and avoid unhealthy behaviour  It builds students knowledge, skills and positive attitudes about health. Health education teaches about physical, mental, emotional and social health. It motivates students to improve and maintain their health, prevent disease and reduce risky behaviour
