The purpose of this project is to look at the state of marine conservation in Western Australia and understand how social change can be created from within the scope of a nonprofit. The methodology of this project is based on a ‘Systems Thinking’ approach to gain a holistic understanding of the complexities inherent in creating social change for marine conservation. The use of influence diagrams will be used as an effective tool to communicate the findings of the research. Why? Our oceans are integral to all life on the planet, yet their health is on steep rate of decline. So how do we create real social change towards marine sustainability? This project seeks to address some of the big questions around this global issue, at a local scale.
