Common Core State Standards is a set of educational standards- adopted by 45 states including CA It is NOT a Curriculum – It is up to each school to determine how they will teach the standards Designed to allow consistency school-to- school and state-to-state and encourage critical thinking Biggest change in FHS Curriculum is the introduction of Integrated Math For more information: (select “Students/Parents” tab)

Is there a way for me to track if my student is completing homework assignments? FYI : Freshman year grades count for college admission for most universities! Sample Student

What is an AP class and why would a student sign up for one? AP or Advanced Placement classes are college- level courses with curriculum approved by the College Board organization. The benefits of taking an AP class include: Demonstration of strength of curriculum Weighted GPA A=5.0, B=4.0, C= 3.0 Potential to earn college credits with high scores on AP tests Note that some Honors courses are also weighted in the student GPA or given an extra point.

When will students receive grades? How do the classes translate to course units for graduation? The first grades students receive are quarter grades Only semester grades are included on student transcripts Each semester is equivalent to 5 credits There are 220 credits required to graduate from High School Low first quarter grades are a wake-up call to get help!

Is there tutoring help available for students at Folsom High? Need help in classes?
