How can I connect with my student’s teachers or counselor? Teacher Websites and Counseling Tab are both accessed from the FHS Home page.
The most efficient way to contact your student's counselor is to send an with your questions. This will give them the opportunity to research and provide the answer you are seeking. Available before school, after school, during lunch, and by appointment. How does the daily schedule work at FHS? Use your PAWSport for time management! Monday & Tuesday: all class periods (58 minutes each) Wednesday: class periods 1,3,5 (1 hour & 40 minutes each) Thursday: class periods 2,4,6 (1 hour & 40 minutes each) Friday: all class periods (shortened to 42 minutes each) PAWS PERIOD: one hour session Weds. & Thurs. to study, make up tests, receive teacher assistance, or do homework. Monday – Thursday 8:00 AM - 3:03 PM Friday 8:00 AM – 1:26 PM
What is Common Core and how is it being incorporated into the curriculum at FHS? Common Core State Standards is a set of educational standards- adopted by 45 states including CA It is NOT a Curriculum – It is up to each school to determine how they will teach the standards Designed to allow consistency school-to- school and state-to-state and encourage critical thinking Biggest change in FHS Curriculum is the introduction of Integrated Math For more information: (select “Students/Parents” tab)
How can my student get involved? Purposeful high school experience. Sports! Music: Jazz, Marching Band, Concert Band, Orchestra Drama & Arts: Film, Hip Hop Student Government Academics: Calif. Scholarship Federation Cultural: World Language, Global Studies Technology: Robotics Club, Science Club Community Service: BRO, Interact, Key Club Involvement and student engagement is a key to success in high school. CLUB RUSH! During Lunch 9/10: TOMMORROW!!!

How can students manage their classes? PowerSchool Parent is a tracking application that can be accessed right from the FHS website!
How can I track my student’s progress? Get help early; don’t allow grades to fall before asking for assistance! Sample Student
Is there a way for me to track if my student is completing homework assignments? FYI : Freshman year grades count for college admission for most universities! Sample Student
What is an AP class and why would a student sign up for one? AP or Advanced Placement classes are college- level courses with curriculum approved by the College Board organization. The benefits of taking an AP class include: Demonstration of strength of curriculum Weighted GPA A=5.0, B=4.0, C= 3.0 Potential to earn college credits with high scores on AP tests Note that some Honors courses are also weighted in the student GPA or given an extra point.
When will students receive grades? How do the classes translate to course units for graduation? The first grades students receive are quarter grades Only semester grades are included on student transcripts Each semester is equivalent to 5 credits There are 220 credits required to graduate from High School Low first quarter grades are a wake-up call to get help!
Is there tutoring help available for students at Folsom High? Need help in classes? FHS Peer Tutor Program Folsom High student tutors – Juniors & Seniors that have earned a “B” or higher and are recommended by their teacher Arrangements are made directly with the Peer Tutor by the student and/or parent requesting assistance List of Tutors is available for pick-up in the Folsom High School Counseling Office Peer Tutor Program at FHS is only $10 per hour!
