 INFOhio, is the Information Network For Ohio Schools. It is a statewide cooperative project designed to create an electronic network linking teachers, students, library/media specialists and others via computer to:  School libraries in the same district and across the state.  College and University libraries through cooperative efforts with OhioLINK.  Public and special libraries through cooperative efforts with OPLIN.  Electronic databases of government, education and other information. As a teacher, access to so many reputable resources through one site is not only convenient, but cost effective. Many of these sources would be available by subscription if accessed outside the INFOhio network.

 INFOhio, a statewide cooperative school library and information network, supports and enriches teaching and learning by providing equitable access to quality resources for Ohio's PreK-12 community of students, educators and parents. INFOhio's components include electronic resources for schools, instructional development for teachers, and school library automation -- all promoting information literacy and media literacy through the use of technology. Information literacy, media literacy and technology use are all key components of Ohio’s library curriculum.

 INFOhio, a virtual K-12 library, transforms teaching and learning by connecting educational resources with the power of information technology.  Click box to view video: I would use this video with older Elementary students and parents at curriculum night. It would also be beneficial to show to staff during our staff development meetings at the beginning of the school year. We do have the INFOhio site listed as a resource on our school website, but I don’t think students/parents, or teachers for that matter realize all that INFOhio provide.

 Assists in collection development and identifies resources aligned to Ohio's Academic Content Standards. It is a composite of several catalogs that can be searched simultaneously. These catalogs consist of the Ohio Area Instructional Media Center holdings, online lesson plans, and a Union Catalog of over one million unique bibliographic records of resources held by over 2,400 Ohio public and private school libraries. These bibliographic records are used by school library media specialists to download to local online catalogs.Ohio's Academic Content Standards Alignment with state standards ensures that resources will be meaningful and useful.

 provides a core collection of electronic, age- specific, curriculum-related resources for K-12 use in Ohio. Negotiating a statewide contract for these resources makes them available across the state without charge to individual schools. INFOhio pays about 50¢ per student on behalf of the State of Ohio to provide all these resources to the students and educators in every public and non-public school. With over 1.1 million students, this is a considerable investment. Maximizing utilization makes it cost effective.

 INFOhio offers a full range of training, workshops, seminars, in-services and support programs to help educators throughout the state better understand the expanding definition of literacy and how to use tools and technologies of the Information Age.  Each year, INFOhio presents at the eTech Ohio conference. eTech Ohio is dedicated to enhancing learning by developing programs and using best practices to serve learning organizations while acquiring, integrating and sustaining educational technology.

 makes it possible for thousands of library card catalogs to be available on the Internet. It also allows schools to give their students and teacher access to other school, college and public library collections from the classroom, library or home. More than 2,400 Ohio schools in 480 districts serving over 1,100,000 students have online access to millions of print resources via INFOhio's standardized library automation software from SirsiDynix.

 makes it possible for teachers from anywhere in the state to simply point and click to locate, reserve and book the multi- media educational resources they need - 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The collections of more than 30 agencies are online including Area Media Centers, Special Education Regional Resources Centers, education television corporations and school district central media centers.

 INFOhio provides library automation software for circulating library materials, uniform cataloging of library materials, searching library collections through online catalogs and supporting other library and educational operations.

ResourceDescription The INFOhio Union Catalog of K-12 Curriculum Resources is a compilation of over 1.6 million unique bibliographic records of resources held by over 2,000 public and private school libraries. Used by school library/media specialists to copy bibliographic records for local materials, the Curriculum Resource Catalog also assists in collection development and identifies resources supporting Ohio's Academic Content Standards. More than 40 agencies -- including Area Media Centers, Special Education Regional Resource Centers, Educational Service Centers and school district central media centers -- are automated through INFOhio's media booking software, Dymaxion's Medianet. Web-based catalogs enable teachers to book resources or download streaming videos purchased by participating agencies. INFOhio uses the SirsiDynix/MultiLIS software which is installed at all 23 Ohio Information Technology Centers. There are currently more than 2,400 libraries, 480 school districts, and more than 1.1 million students using SirsiDynix/MultiLIS. These sophisticated library automation software packages allow member schools to locate materials with a Web-based catalog, manage materials with an integrated components, including circulation, cataloging, reports and inventory.

 provides resources free to all Ohio K-12 students and educators for the school year. A username and password are required for home access; see your school library media specialist.  This includes online art collections, digital video collections and encyclopedias and other reference resources.

 Homework Help Tools -- Suggested resources to help your child successfully complete assignments, using the INFOhio Core Collection and other sites.  HomeworkNow -- a free, statewide online reference service available all day, every day to help with homework.  How to Use INFOhio’s Core Collection -- specific suggestions for various materials, such as encyclopedias, magazine articles and web sites.  Internet Safety -- links to sites that will help you understand safety in an electronic environment and what you can do as a parent  Books and Reading-- Links to several sites to encourage all readers in a family, including e-books, author sites, practice in reading and writing, reading lists and more.

 Available anytime, anywhere, 24/7, from any Internet-accessible computer at school or at home.  Offers electronic databases, instructional resources, standardized software and technical support.  Ensures equity of access and helps ensure that no Ohio child is left on the have-not side of the Digital Divide.
