What to put on the envolope? a. The full name and the complete address of the receiver in the center of the envolope; b. The return address (the writer ’ s name <usually without title> and address) is written in the top left-hand corner of the envelope; c. Stamps are put in the top right-hand corner (Note: The receiver ’ s address should be exactly the same as the inside address.) Read the sample on page 392. Note “ c/o ” <Read (4) on page 393>.

2. Language Personal Letters ----What are personal letters? Letters written to friends, relatives, or family members to express your feelings and thoughts, convey information and maintain relationships. ----What about the style, the tone and the language used in personal letters? The style is casual; the tone is frank and warm, and the language can be highly subjective.

It was nice to hear from you. What a happy surprise to get a letter from you after all this time. I haven ’ t heard from you for really a long time. Thank you so much for answering my letter so quickly. You will be very glad to hear that …… I thought you would be interested to hear of …… I write to you to tell you that ……

II. What to write in the body part? Describe conditions, interesting episodes of life and ongoing events, express personal views and opinions, and your life attitude and emotional states. III. What makes up the ending? Show the signal of end by telling your expectation, regards, wishes, advice and concern, etc. e.g. Take care. Best wishes! With love! Stay warm. With best wishes! All my wishes! I ’ ll be looking forward to hearing from you soon.
