Sunrise Rotary International Community Service

Mission The International Service comprises those activities that members do to advance international understanding, goodwill, and peace by fostering acquaintance with people of other countries, their cultures, customs, accomplishments, aspirations, and problems, through reading and correspondence and through cooperation in all club activities and projects designed to help people in other lands.

STRUCTURE OF ROTARY Clubs like ours District- 530 Zone-34 Rotary International-1

Joint venture project Rotary Club of Delhi South East

The Arya Kanya Gurukul The Arya Kanya Gurukul is a school that is over 65 years old and had been created under the aegis of a trust that took care of poor children. As times changed and progressed the school today has almost 150 girls from grade 3 rd till grade 12 who are living and studying in the ashram. The school is a full boarding school where The girls come from very poor backgrounds of fathers and mothers who would be unemployed or working in slums etc. The girls who are taken in are girls who are bright and good in studies. The aptitude of the girls is tested to see whether they have the spark and the desire to make a difference to their lives and of their families. They are educated and groomed and made confident at this Ashram which means a home or shelter. The Ashram provides very basic facilities of living but teaching is done by professional teachers run and controlled by a trust that is philanthropic and charitable. The number of students is limited due to the space constraints of having space for girls to live and eat and shower and food halls being lesser. Rotary Club of Delhi South East

Objective of the Project Upgrade the lives of the 150 girls living in this Ashram so they have a chance to live life amongst the society as free flowing minds. Give them and empower them with quality knowledge and education. Build up a confidence in their minds so that Economic growth and strength is enhanced. Rotary Club of Delhi South East

Key Things to do at this school Build the toilet Blocks to provide hygienic facilities. Create more space for bathing for the girls living there and provide water heaters to ensure that the winter chill is managed better. Provide better lighting in the bathrooms and the common areas. Cover the opem roofs of the bathrooms as well to ensure safety and cleanliness. Provide proper sanitation facilities and drainage to prevent water logging and ensure prevention of Diseases. Provide the girls child with supplementary educational tools to promote litreacy that is so very important to upgrade life. Create a resource base to groom and build these girls who pass out to become model students in everyday lives. Upgrade the Computer room and library resources under the Litreacy program being run by Rotary. Rotary Club of Delhi South East

Get beds manufactured with head rests and a pin up board and drawers to enable the children to sleep in better conditions as well as have a cosy corner whilst sleeping. Provide mattresses and quilts to each child. Upgrade the facilities as the courtyard is broken and in a run down condition and if we could freshly cement and make it better so that water logging is avoided. Rooms are very unorganised and we could make the rooms with better ventilation. The girls living in the Ashram are Children and we could build a complete playground for them to have a nice activity after classes. Their childhood has to be saved and the children should live their childhood and if a play area is created then it is wonderful and would be great service to humanity. Entertainment for the girls living in the ashram shall enable a lot of work to be done and will need to be focussed on varying age groups. Rotary Club of Delhi South East

Classrooms can be painted into happy classrooms to make it interesting. Color should be used. Room heaters can be provided as winters in such an old building can be really cold in the absence of heating. Lunch hall are open halls with sitting on the floor and if we can create a respectable way of eating with a table or carpetted area to sit on the flooor and eat it will be also a milestone. Smart boards in the senior classes. A lab for chemistry and physics experiments can be created. Salary of a computer teacher can be supported. Basketball court can be built so that girls have a sport to keep themselves busy. Uniforms for all the children can be provided and that will be great upliftment. A sanitary napkin machine can be installed at this girls only school to support. Rotary Club of Delhi South East
