What is a Fungi and why is it not a Plant?!? Fungi are not plants. Living things are organized for study into large, basic groups called kingdoms. Fungi were listed in the Plant Kingdom for many years. Then scientists learned that fungi show a closer relation to animals, but are unique and separate life forms. Now, Fungi are placed in their own Kingdom. The reason that they are in a different kingdom is because they release spores to reproduce.

Fungi do not not make their own food which means they eat! They live off of dead plants and animals! They reproduce by releasing millions of spores from their undersides! COOL!

The Quiz! Q1: What is a fungi? Q2: How do spores help the fungi? Q3: How does a fungi survive?

ANSWERS! 1.A fungi is a thing that lives of dead plant and animals and have spores. 2.Thay help them reproduce 3.By eating dead plants and animals
