Preparation of a Research Jet Fuel Composition Comprised of Nearly Exclusively Methyl-Branched Tetradecane Isomers Having a Freezing Point below −47 ℃ 赵云霞

Abstract and Introduction alternative aviation fuels 1.potential fuels contains only a limited number of isomers 2.alternative fuels fail the distillation distribution specification in current use

such an alternative blendstock were used to make a 50/50 alternative/petroleum blend a generic surrogate research fuel comprised of isomers of tetradecane that meet the −47 ℃ freezing point specification of JP-8

1-tetradecene n-tetradecane hydroisomerized using a Pt/US-Y zeolite catalyst raw tetradecane mixture is separated from cracked products by distillation

the remaining n-tetradecane content must be reduced to <1.5% solvent dewaxing

EXPERIMENTAL SECTION Fixed-Bed Catalytic Reactor System 0.5% Pt/US-Y Zeolite Hydroprocessing Catalyst Producing n-Tetradecane n-Tetradecane Isomerization Separating C 14 Isomers from Cracked Products Freezing-Point Determinations Solvent Dewaxing

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION Hydrogenating the 1-Tetradecene Isomerization of n-Tetradecane

Hydroisomerization and Solvent Dewaxing

Freezing Point Dependence on n-C 14 Content

CONCLUSIONS a mixture of predominantly methyl-branched C 14 alkane isomers with a freezing point below −47 ℃ n-C 14 to hydroisomerization using a 0.5% Pt/US- Y zeolite catalyst at a fractional conversion just under 0.9 The cracked products can be efficiently separated from the C 14 fraction via fractional vacuum distillation the residual n-C 14 content must be reduced to <1.5 wt %.
