Anxiety and Depression Anxiety- Fear, dread, worry about specific situations; can be caused by stress; when it becomes constant, regular, or is overwhelming it is considered anxiety disorder Depression- sad, anxious, worthless, desperate feelings that overcome a person – Symptoms: -crying easily Moody, fighting/arguing a lot Anxious/worried/panic attacks Avoiding friends Alcohol/drug use as an escape Loss of interest Always tired Sleeping/eating changes Stomach/head/back pains Difficulty concentrating, recalling events, making decisions Any thoughts, plans, or attempts at suicide
