When to Delegate Availability of employees with necessary knowledge, skill and experience to complete a task Tasks enables personal growth and development of employees Tasks of recurring nature Ample time to effectively delegate 2 Delegation 2

Factors in selecting employees for Delegation Experience, knowledge and skills of the employee Workload of the employee being considered for delegation Preferred work style of the employee 3 Delegation 3

Delegation Process (Planning and organizing) Clarify the desired result or outcome in advance Clarify constraints and boundaries Empower employees with adequate authority and responsibility Establish effective two way communication and clarify all concerns Provide adequate support Boost motivation and morale 4 Delegation 4

Leading in Delegation Display effective leadership in terms of providing support to the subordinates in the right direction Effective leaders motivate subordinates to handle delegated task with full confidence Delegate responsibility and authority but take full accountability of the delegated task 5 Delegation 5

Controlling in Delegation Devote ample time to review work Establish clear cut deadlines and schedule of checkpoints in advance for reviewing employee’s progress Be flexible and make adjustments, as and when need arises Be available for resolving any problems and issues 6 Delegation 6
