The Deal  Jefferson only wanted New Orleans.  Ended up buying all of Louisiana for $15 million  Doubled the U.S.A.  Set precedent for future presidents to make treaties

Jefferson a hypocrite?  With the Louisiana Purchase, Jefferson increased the power of the federal government.  This goes against the Republican platform.  Why do you think he did it?
