Examples from Young Devon 1

 Who?  Why?  What?  Where?  When?  How?  All have to be fundamentally affirmed, with resulting actions and responses led by young people. 2 “What’s in it for me?” from all perspectives.

 4 tier accredited Participation training modules for young people;  Engagement with services and contracts – e.g CAMHS, Social Care, Housing, Health, Education, Police, Councils;  Transferable skills; local focus; regional and national agendas;  Role of staff - support, facilitation, challenge, information and guidance;  Access to decision makers. 3

 Young Devon’s Voice of Young People Sub Group;  CYP IAPT Shadow Board;  Training professionals;  Advising commissioners, councillors and MPs;  Recommendations from consultations affecting regional policy around Early Help and Intervention;  Embedding the “You said – we did” principle; 4

Examples are:  The Pathfield’s group and Tescos  Listen and Care Council and their “10 Wishes” and the following film from Children In Care

 “ 10 Wishes” – adopted by PCC Social Care and Safeguarding teams;  Torbay CAMHS young people’s group nominated for award within local NHS/CCG;  Influenced and pushed for gaps in provision to be added to DCC “Early Help Strategy” and PCC “Early Intervention Strategy” as a result of consultation reports with young people;  Commitment to use resources recommended by young people to tackle early incidents of Domestic Abuse and Violence across all Plymouth schools;  “Plymouth Pledge” from Corporate Parents within PCC, and involvement of young people in Corporate meetings;  Strategic partnerships strengthened with education, health, social care, FE and HE across the South West and beyond;  Bigger and bolder plans in the pipeline! 6
