Sketching Techniques Sketching a Line 1) 2) 3)

Sketching Techniques Sketching a Circle 1) Set up the diameter 2) Square in the diameter 3) Sketch diagonals

Sketching Techniques Sketching a Circle 4) Identify triangle centers 5) Sketch arcs

Question 4 Draw 5 horizontal lines of different sizes Draw 5 vertical lines of different sizes Draw 5 inclined lines of different sizes Draw two circles of different sizes.

Alphabet of Lines Construction Object Hidden Center

Alphabet of Lines Construction: Light (very faint) lines used to get the general shape of the object. Rule of thumb when you hold your paper at arms length the lines should disappear. Object: Are very dark lines used to show the perimeter of the object and any special features.

Alphabet of Lines Hidden: Are dark dashed lines used to show features that are not seen from a particular view. Center: Used to show the center of circles and arcs. Have two short dash lines to show the center, with leader lines extending past the feature.

Conclusion Questions 1. Why is it important that you learn how to sketch? Quick way to communicate an idea to another person. 2. Why is it important to use the proper line types. To show true shape, size and details about the drawing.
