My goal is for students to enjoy analyzing data. It should be fun, interesting and relevant. One really interesting data problem is worth more than ten boring problems. YAY! It’s Data Day!
Before using any technology… C onnect- Make it relevant. Use data that interests students. A ssess- Students need to think about the data. What does it mean? Discuss. P icture- Students should create or visualize the data as tables and graphs. YAY! It’s Data Day!
After students have thought about it and discussed… C onfirm- Create a plot or graph using technology to confirm your ideas. A ssess- Were you on the right track? What went right and/or wrong? P redict- What would happen in the future? YAY! It’s Data Day!
