L ESSON O UTLINE... In pairs you will all be allocated a poem. It will be your task to find a creative way to present this poem to the rest of the class to aid revision. You will present your poem next lesson. Areas to focus on will be presented on the next slide.

Focus on the poem, not the poet. CIE say to only mention his/her life "insofar as it might help students to appreciate the poem. If there is or might be an underlying private concern, you may mention biographical references, but this should not impede you from considering how the poet speaks to the twenty-first century reader in whatever part of the world s/he happens to be. Knowledge of historical/biographical context is not a formal Assessment Objective in this syllabus; students are not expected to show knowledge of it in the exam (not least as there is always the risk of their wasting valuable time in regurgitating second- hand details – for which they will gain no credit)."

Types of questions to expect: What do you find most striking in the poem ? Be sure to refer to the writing in your answer. Explore in detail the ways in which the poets brings out a sense of joy and pleasure in any of the following poems.... How does the poet powerfully convey a critical view of in any of the following poems? Examine how the words and images vividly convey a sense of in any of the following poems.
