Step 1 – Finding images 1.Find the images you want to use in your movie. Save them into your student folder on the server. Create a new folder in which you can save them. 2.Rename each image as you save it. Keep track of the website where you find it. Back to Table of Contents

Step 2 – Importing Images 1.Open Windows Movie Maker. (From the Start menu, choose All Programs). 2.Import your images into Movie Maker. 1.Click on Import Pictures 2.It will open a screen that will allow you to navigate to your folder where your images are saved. 3.Select all the images that you want to use. (Hold down the Control key and click on each image). Then click Import. 4.The images will be placed into your Collection in Movie Maker. Back to Table of Contents

Step 2 – Importing Images, (cont.) To select all your images = Ctrl + A To select individual images = Hold down Ctrl key while clicking each image, then click Import Back to Table of Contents

Step 3 – Finding music 1.Find music that you want to use in your movie. 2.You must use music that you can legally download, or music that you own. You may also use music that is in the World Language folder on the phsstudents drive. 3.Save it into your student folder on the server. (Create a new folder for the music). 4.The music is intended to be background music. Remember, you will be talking while the movie is playing. Back to Table of Contents

Step 4 – Importing music 1.Import your music into Movie Maker by clicking on Import Audio or Music in Movie Maker. 2.Navigate to your folder and select the music you want to use. Click Import. 3.It will also be placed into your Collection in Movie Maker. Back to Table of Contents

Step 5 - Making your movie (adding images) 1. Now you are ready to make your movie. You may drag images from your collection into the section labeled video at the bottom of the screen. Back to Table of Contents

Step 5 – Making your movie (using different views) 1. You may change the view from the Timeline view to the Storyboard view by clicking on Show Storyboard. Back to Table of Contents

Step 5 – Making your movie (adding music) 1.To add music to your movie, switch to the Timeline view by clicking on Show Timeline. 2.Drag your music into the section labeled Audio / Music. Back to Table of Contents

Step 5 – Making your movie (adding music) 1.You can drag each image to be longer or shorter to match up with your music. 2.In the Timeline view, hold your cursor over the edge of the image or music, and click and drag to desired length. Back to Table of Contents

Step 5 – Making your movie (adding effects) 1.Once you have your images in place, you may add effects to each image. 2.To add an effect, click on View Effects, under Edit Movie. 3.Once you choose the effect you want, grab the effect and drag it and drop it onto your image, onto the gray star. Once your effect is in place, the star will turn blue. Back to Table of Contents

Step 5 – Making your movie (adding effects) 1.You may add multiple effects to one image. Just drag another effect on top of the blue star. 2.To delete an effect, simply click on the blue star and press delete. Back to Table of Contents

Step 5 – Making your movie (adding transitions) 1.You may also add transitions between images. 2.To add a transition, click on View Transitions, under Edit Movie. 3.Once you choose the transition you want, grab it and drag it drop it onto the arrow between the images. 4.You may view your movie at anytime by clicking play on the video screen on the right. This will allow you to see what your effects and transitions look like. Back to Table of Contents

Step 5 – Making your movie (adding titles) 1.To add a title page, click on Make Titles or Credits under Edit Movie. 2.Choose the option you want (add title at beginning, etc.) and then type the title you want into the boxes. 3.Under More Options, you can change the title color and font and animation. 4.When you’re finished, click Done, Add Title to Movie. 5.You may also add an effect or transition to the title, or make a title an overlay on an image. Step 5 – Making your movie (adding credits) 1.To add a credits page, click on Make Titles or Credits, under Edit Movie. 2.Choose Add Credits at end. 3.Type in your credits into the boxes. This is a good place to add your bibliography. 4.You may also change the color and font and animation. 5.Credits can be a separate clip, or an overlay on an image. Back to Table of Contents

Step 6 – Saving your movie 1.When you’re done, you must finish your movie by saving it in the correct format. 2.Under the File menu, choose Save Movie File... 3.Choose the first option, Save to My Computer, then click Next. 4.Type a name for your movie and select the location where you want to save it. Click Next. 5.Select Best Quality for Playback on My Computer and click Next. 6.Your movie will be saved in a.WMV format so that it can be played in Windows Media Player. It will take a few minutes.
