A type of cell lacking a membrane enclosed nucleus and membrane enclosed organelles. Organisms with prokaryotic cells ( bacteria and archaea) are called prokaryotes.
Bacteria chromosome Nucleoid- region where the cells DNA is located (not enclosed) Fimbriae- attachment structure on the surface of some prokaryotes Ribosome- complex that synthesize proteins Plasma membrane- membrane enclosing the cytoplasm Cell wall- rigid structure outside the plasma membrane Capsule- jellylike outer layer coating of many prokaryotes Flagella- locomotion organelles of some bacteria
