Section C Public Health What do I need to be doing?

Lesson Objectives Develop subject knowledge of Public Health throughout the ages. Develop understanding of exam technique for 4 and 8 mark questions.

What is Section C all about? Section C is very similar to Section B in its set up and requirements. You have a choice of 2 questions (Q4 & Q5) Again, You must choose one and answer both the a) and b) part of the question. a)= 4marks b)= 8 marks. You could be asked about factors, time periods, theories of disease or key people.

What do I need to do to get 8marks on question B? Worth 2 grades (16%) Again, don’t be vague - add lots of detail. Compare Evaluate This question will ask you to compare the 2 features from question a). Make sure you compare them and explain which is most important. Structure: 3 chunky paragraphs (1 for each feature + 1 for the comparison)

Level 1: Answer describes the role of one or both key features with limited detail or evidence to back up generalised statements. Answer is basic with simple understanding of punctuation and grammar. (1 – 2 marks) Level 2: Answer talks briefly about both features and compares them simply. Answer describes key points about both features and compares them very generally (3 – 5 marks) OR Answer considers one person’s contribution to the development of understanding of disease and infection in depth Level 3: Answer explains and evaluates in depth both feature’s contribution to the development of understanding of disease and infection. This includes a detailed comparison of both of the key features. Answer shows a developed understanding of spelling punctuation and grammar (6 – 8 marks)
