Glossary 4 Child Nutrition Federal and state funding awarded to schools to ensure that every child has the opportunity to receive a free, healthy meal. E-Rate Provides discounts to assist schools and libraries in the United States to obtain affordable telecommunications and Internet access. Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Federal funding to offset part of the costs of the K-12 education needs of children with disabilities. Local Education Agency (LEA) School districts, county offices of education, and charter schools. Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) A California school funding law passed in 2013 that changed the method of distribution of funding from the state to local school districts. It gives more money to schools with large numbers of underserved students and provides local control to districts to decide how to use their allocated funds. The law also requires districts to seek input from parents and community members on how the funds should be used. Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) A plan developed with input from parents, educators, employees and the community regarding how LCFF funding will be used particularly in eight areas identified as state priorities.

Glossary 5 Mandate Block Grant Federal funding of $14 per middle school student and $42 per high school student with provisions as to the way it is to be spent. Replication and Expansion for High Quality Charter Schools Federal funding for Charter Management Organizations (CMOs) that serve low income-families to support planning, program design, initial implementation of new schools and enrollment expansion for existing schools. Senate Bill 740 Charter School Facility Grant Program Provides state funding to charter schools for rent and lease expenditures.
