10-15 min Activity As a group, list the steps needed to change a tire on a car Identify the hazards of each step Compare your results to the following slides

JSA Process Every person who will participate in the work participates in the JSA process- including contractors. JSA is to be conducted before work begins. After the job, review the JSA to see if any lessons learned can be applied.

Reduce the Risk A mitigation is the same as “solution” or a way to prevent accidents, injury or harm. A mitigation is the answer to the question, “How will you reduce the risk?”

Ways to Reduce Risk Identify source of the risk Use engineering, procedures or PPE to reduce risk

Change the work site Tools, materials, equipment layout or location Study change carefully for other benefits (costs, time savings)

Change procedures What should the worker do to eliminate the hazard How should it be done? Document changes in the JSA

SIMOPS Concerns?? Changes may affect other jobs or work processes. Check the new process once it has been redesigned. Did it reduce risk?
