TYPES OF RIDES
EPCOT SPACESHIP EARTH Enter the iconic geosphere and explore the history of communications, from the Stone Age to the computer age Their first concern was how they would carry the load of the Shell. If they allowed the six legs to bear the full load alone, it would put too much stress on those individual sections of the sphere. This could cause the Shell to buckle in the areas of concentrated force; they needed to distribute the weight more evenly. They decided they would keep the Shell structure completely independent of the legs.
SPACE MOUNTAIN “Blast off on a rip-roaring rocket through the darkest reaches of outer space. WED partnered with Arrow Development Company, the same company that had helped design the Matterhorn's roller coaster systems years before.[3] The initial concept was to have four separate tracks, but the technology available at the time, combined with the amount of space required versus that which was available within Disneyland, made such a design impossible.[3]
TOWER OF TERROR Going Down! “Shriek in terror as your elevator free-falls down the abandoned shaft then unexpectedly changes direction and launches back up the hotel. Gaze out through a missing wall 13 stories high as the doors inexplicably open and close to reveal the hotel grounds. As if possessed by some unseen phantom, the lift plummets down and speeds upward over and over again, the sound of cables snapping and metal clanging overhead” – The Tower of Terror buildings are among the tallest found at their respective Disney resorts. At 199 feet (60.7 m), the Florida version is the second tallest attraction building at the Walt Disney World Resort, shorter only than Expedition Everest's feet (60.8 m). At the Disneyland Resort, the 183-foot (55.8 m) structure is the tallest attraction at the resort, as well as one of the tallest buildings in Anaheim.[5] At Disneyland Paris it is the second tallest attraction.
